The training curriculum covers a range of practical subjects, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Internet Skills, Digital Marketing, and Online Safety.
The Director for Corporate Affairs at GI-KACE, Kobi Hemaa Osisiadan, described the initiative as strategically timed following the completion of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). The programme began on the 25th of May 2026 and will last for 8 weeks (2 months).
According to her, participants will transition from passive consumers of technology into competent, confident users of core digital infrastructure.
Kobi Hemaa Osisiadan affirmed that the skills that would be gained over the two months will directly protect participants against modern cyber threats and grant them a tangible advantage as they enter higher tiers of education.
Speaking to the acting Director of Studies, Haruna B. Musah, he stressed that the program represents a continuation of the Centre’s core mandate of equipping the nation’s youth with
foundational and practical ICT competencies necessary for academic progress and career longevity.
Haruna B. Musah further indicated that the initiative forms part of GI-KACE’s ongoing efforts to bridge the digital skills gap among Ghana’s youth and promote digital inclusion across the country.
He indicated that the internet is already shaping the future of the youth and urged parents not to wait till it is too late. “The internet is already shaping your child’s future, whether we prepare them or not. Don’t wait until it’s too late; give your child the knowledge to navigate the digital world safely and confidently,” he added.
