More than 300 female students at Tema Senior High School have been equipped with practical artificial intelligence (AI) skills during a special training program organized by the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (GI-KACE) in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES) to mark this year’s Girls in ICT Day, celebrated on April 23, 2026.
This corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, aimed at encouraging more young women to pursue careers in technology, introduced students to the effective use of AI tools in their academic work and everyday activities. The program featured hands-on sessions, expert-led teaching, and interactive discussions designed to simplify AI and highlight its growing importance.
Miss Rosalyn Sowah, a facilitator at GI-KACE, led the training while guiding the students through theoretical and practical applications of AI. With demo laptops provided by GI-KACE, participants experienced a hands-on training during the session.
Students who took part in the program described it as both enlightening and inspiring, particularly in helping them understand how AI can shape their future.

“I learned that AI can help us do a lot of things. It helps to improve healthcare services, improve security, and also helps us in our education,” one student, Gloria, said after the training.
Another participant highlighted the historical perspective she gained. “I learned that AI generation began in the 1950s,” she said, noting that the session introduced her to key pioneers in the field. She described the program as “good and also educational,” adding that she would welcome more opportunities to learn.
Facilitators at the program also expressed satisfaction with the impact of the training. One of the instructors described the experience as fulfilling and meaningful.
The program forms part of GI-KACE’s broader efforts to build digital capacity and inspire young women to enter the technology space. By combining theory with practical application, organizers hope to bridge the gender gap in ICT and prepare students for a rapidly evolving digital world.
