The Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (GI-KACE) is pleased to announce the appointment of Hon. Abdul-Aziz Mohammed as its new Deputy Director-General.
Hon. Abdul-Aziz Mohammed brings to the role over 25 years of experience in public service and politics, supported by a solid academic and professional foundation in finance, governance, and public administration.
Before joining GI-KACE, he served as the Acting Deputy Administrator of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), an agency under the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation. He also previously worked as Finance Manager at GIFEC from 2009 to 2017, where he played a key role in strengthening the Fund’s financial systems and supporting digital inclusion initiatives.
His extensive career spans additional roles, including Finance Manager for the Research Triangle Institute under the National Malaria Control Programme, Assistant Finance Manager with the Ghana-Danish Community Programme, and nearly a decade of service as a teacher from 1999 to 2007.
Hon. Abdul-Aziz also has a distinguished political background. He represented the Mion Constituency in the 7th Parliament of the Republic of Ghana, where he served on the Local Government & Decentralization Committee and the Poverty Reduction Strategy Committee. His legislative experience and understanding of governance and community development bring added depth to his new leadership position.
As the responsible agency for implementing major national digital initiatives including the flagship “One Million Coders” programme launched under President John Dramani Mahama, GI-KACE is hopeful that his appointment will further strengthen its mission to drive digital transformation, deliver world-class ICT training, and foster technological innovation across Ghana and the sub-region.
