Indian High Commissioner to Ghana Commends GI-KACE Sunyani Smart Technology Research Centre

The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, His Excellency Sugandh Rajaram, paid an announced working visit to the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT’s Sunyani IoT Centre.

H.E. Rajaram used the opportunity to commend the Centre for holding on steadfastly to the mission and vision in which it was established.

H.E. Sugandh Rajaram was taken through a PowerPoint presentation on some research and innovative projects the Sunyani IoT Centre of GI-KACE had undertaken and others which are yet to be done.

After the presentation, he was taken through an exhibition of some of the projects, such as the Image Processing system of the Cocoa beans and the Access Tracking device on the motorbikes.

Expressing his excitement, the Indian High Commissioner to Ghanan advised that the research and projects by the Centre should connect directly with the indigenes even the younger ones so that if it comes to knowledge transfer, it will be easier for them to get the concepts because it resonates.

According to His Excellency Sugandh Rajaram, GI-KACE should consider developing content for some of the research for those in the lower cycle of the education system.

He added that some of the research and projects should be broken up to a level that will suit youngsters in a form of a kit so that even people without advanced knowledge in the field of research would be able to understand and apply.

He indicated that for more research and innovative projects, the government of Ghana should provide facilities then the Indian Government provides capacity building to complement the collaboration between the two countries.

“If it is the Quality Assurance Unit that has to be set up, the India Government is hoping to build capacity that the research assistants have, and the government of Ghana will make provision for the equipment needed for the unit,” he disclosed.

He stressed that all research and projects should be prioritized to providing the needs of the government for rapid socio-economic growth of the country.

The Indian High Commission to Ghana urged the Sunyani IoT Centre of GI-KACE to aspire to be the Regional Innovation Hub of the Bono Region and beyond.
